Terms of Service

Last updated: October 26, 2026

These terms govern your use of Ivory: the website ivory-app.com and the Ivory app for iPhone and iPad (together, the "Service"), provided by Ivory Labs. By creating an account, buying a credit or a subscription, or using the Service, you accept these terms. Please read them, together with our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

  • Publisher: Ivory Labs, a French société par actions simplifiée à associé unique (SASU) with a share capital of €20,500, registered office at 48 Avenue Sergent Maginot, 35000 Rennes, France.
  • Registration: Trade and Companies Register (RCS) of Rennes, number 107 708 208 (EUID FR3501.107708208). VAT number: FR79107708208.
  • Publication director: Marius Lumbroso, President.
  • Contact: contact@ivory-app.com.
  • Host: BlazingFast, A.S.A.S.S.U. Lda, Avenida dos Jardins do Oceano 522-526, Ocean Plaza, 3rd floor, Room 2518, Taipa, Macau. The servers are located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

2. The Service

Ivory uses artificial intelligence to write down the music in a recording:

  • Piano mode: a recording of a piano playing alone becomes a two-staff score and a MIDI file.
  • Lead Sheet mode (beta): a song with vocals or a band becomes a lead sheet: the melody and the chords, with a second line and a bass line.

You can upload audio and video files (up to 10 minutes and 30 MB) or paste a link to a YouTube, TikTok or Instagram video (up to 15 minutes). Transcriptions open in a score view and a falling-notes player, piano scores can be corrected in an editor, and you can export PDF, MusicXML and MIDI files.

Transcriptions are produced automatically. They are estimates: some notes, rhythms or chords may be wrong, especially on dense, fast or noisy recordings, and they are meant to be checked and corrected. We improve the Service over time and may change its features; we will not substantially reduce what a paid plan includes without the notice described in section 13.

3. Your account

  • You need an account to transcribe. You can sign up with an email address and a password, with Google on the website, or with Apple in the iOS app. Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself: you are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else used it.
  • You must be at least 15 years old to create an account on your own. Under 15, a parent or legal guardian must agree to it. A minor needs a parent's or guardian's permission to buy a credit or a subscription.
  • You can delete your account at any time in your account settings (see section 12).

4. Free previews, credits and subscriptions

  • Free previews: every transcription starts as a free preview of the beginning of the piece: the first 30 seconds as falling notes and the first 8 bars of the score. The whole transcription and its downloads take one credit.
  • Subscription: €8.99 per month or €59 per year. It includes 100 transcriptions per month (monthly credits, renewed every month; unused monthly credits do not carry over). It renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel it.
  • Credits: €4.99 each, 1 to 50 per purchase. A credit never expires and is used after your monthly credits.
  • Prices and payment: prices are in euros, all taxes included. Payments on the website are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. In the iOS app, purchases go through Apple, at the prices shown in the app, under Apple's terms.
  • Price changes: a new price applies to a running subscription only from its next renewal, and we tell you at least 30 days before. You can cancel before it applies.
  • Cancelling: you can cancel a subscription at any time from your account (Manage subscription). It stops at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. A subscription bought in the iOS app is cancelled in your Apple account settings, at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple.

5. Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days from a purchase to withdraw from it, with the following limits. When you buy, you ask us to start providing the Service at once.

  • Credits: a credit used for a transcription is a service fully performed at your request, so you can no longer withdraw for it (Article L221-28 1° of the French Consumer Code). Credits you have not used yet are refunded if you withdraw within the 14 days.
  • Subscriptions: you can withdraw within 14 days of the purchase. We then refund you, minus an amount proportionate to the use of the Service up to your withdrawal (Article L221-25 of the French Consumer Code).

To withdraw, send us a clear statement at contact@ivory-app.com, for example with the form at the end of these terms. We refund you within 14 days, with the payment method you used. Purchases made in the iOS app are refunded by Apple, under Apple's procedure.

6. Legal guarantee of conformity

If you are a consumer, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity of digital content and digital services (Articles L224-25-1 and following of the French Consumer Code): if the Service does not work as these terms describe, write to us and we will bring it into conformity or, failing that, reduce the price or refund you. The occasional transcription errors described in section 2 are part of how the Service works, not a lack of conformity. If a transcription fails because of us, write to us and we will give you back the credit it used.

7. Your content

  • It stays yours. You keep all your rights in the files and links you submit and in your transcriptions. You allow us only to store and process them, ourselves and through our technical providers, to provide the Service to you.
  • It stays private. Your songs are visible only to you. Ivory's authorized staff can open them only when needed for support or to keep the Service running. The Service has no public sharing.
  • We do not train our models on it. Your recordings, uploads and transcriptions are never used to train our models.
  • You need the rights. Submit only recordings you are allowed to use: your own playing and works, works in the public domain, recordings whose rights holder allows it, or uses permitted by law. You are responsible for the videos you link to and for respecting the terms of the site they come from. Publishing, distributing or selling a transcription of someone else's work usually needs the permission of its rights holders.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything illegal or to infringe anyone's rights;
  • upload malicious files or try to break, overload or get around the security of the Service;
  • access the Service with bots, scrapers or other automated means, other than through features we provide;
  • copy, resell or reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law allows it;
  • share your account or let others use your credits.

9. Reporting illegal content

If you believe content stored on Ivory is illegal, for example that it infringes your copyright, write to contact@ivory-app.com with your name and contact details, a description of the content and where it is (the link or song you saw, if any), why you believe it is illegal, and a statement that your notice is accurate and made in good faith. We examine notices promptly, may remove or disable the content, and tell you and the user concerned what we decided. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Rights holders in the United States can send notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to the same address, with the information required by 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3).

10. Ivory's property

The Service, its software, models, design and the Ivory name and logo belong to Ivory Labs or its licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive right to use the Service while your account exists, and no other right in it.

11. Availability and liability

We do our best to keep the Service available and working, but it can be interrupted for maintenance, updates or reasons beyond our control. We are responsible for the damage our failures cause you, under the applicable law. We are not responsible for damage caused by your use of the Service against these terms, by the content you submit, or by events beyond our control.

If you use the Service for your business, our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives consumers, or liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Ending the contract

  • You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in your account settings. Deleting the account deletes your songs and your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy; it cancels a subscription paid on the website, and unused credits are lost.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, after telling you and giving you a chance to explain, or immediately in urgent cases (security, illegal activity). If we close the Service or your account for any other reason, we tell you at least 30 days before and refund the unused part of your subscription and your unused credits.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the Service or the law changes. We tell you by email or in the Service at least 30 days before a change that matters for you takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before then; if you keep using the Service, the new terms apply.

14. Personal data

How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

15. Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts of that country.

If something goes wrong, write to us first at contact@ivory-app.com: we answer and look for a solution. If we cannot agree, consumers have the right to turn, free of charge, to a consumer mediator (Article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code). Disputes with business users are brought before the courts of Rennes, France.

16. Additional terms for the iOS app

  • These terms are between you and Ivory Labs, not Apple. Ivory Labs, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content, its maintenance and support, and any claim about it (product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection, or a third party's intellectual property claim).
  • Your license to the app is limited to using it on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you can notify Apple, which will refund its purchase price; to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
